मनुष्य जीवन का सबसे परम लक्ष्य आनंद प्राप्त करना है प्रत्येक व्यक्ति चाहता है कि वह आनंद की प्राप्ति करे क्योंकि आत्मा और आनंद  एक ही है इसीलिए वह चाहता है कि उसका जीवन आनंद पूर्वक हो क्योंकि वह स्वयं सच्चिदानंद स्वरूप ही है 
लेकिन इसमे सबसे बड़ी बाधा यह है कि वह इस आनंद को इस संसार से प्राप्त करना चाहता है  वह समझता है कि सांसारिक संसाधनों से,  व्यक्तियों से,  वह अपने जीवन को आनंदमय बना
